Mona Kubota-Johnson (Co-Creative Director)
Growing up with a love for fashion, Mona knew she wanted to work with clothing in some way. After an early start of working in theatre costuming and stage management, she went to USC’s School of Cinematic Arts to pursue a degree in film studies where she explored the crossovers between fashion and film. In the past few years, Mona has worked in development and production assisting for documentary film and online media companies such as Hard Working Movies and Kyra TV. Mona is very excited to be a creative director and have her directorial debut on a project that embodies her interests in the two art forms she loves most.
Ursula Bowling (Co-Creative Director)
Ursula Bowling is a fashion photographer, cinematographer and illustrator based in Los Angeles. Known for her detailed close ups and pastel colour palettes, Ursula creates images that celebrate the remarkable ways fabric falls on the human form. She began studying traditional darkroom techniques at the International Center for Photography in NYC when she was 15 years old and has been dedicated to her printing practice ever since. Her illustrative work also shows a fascination with the body through curiously stretched and contorted figures in glamorous outfits. As a young girl, Ursula was inspired by the Costume Institute’s biannual shows at the Met Museum and dreamed of a career in fashion. She took weekend class at the Met and got fine arts training at the famed LaGuardia High School. The Sophisticated Woman gallery will be her debut as a creative director.
